    It's always fun to stop by Benson Lake. The sight of delightful Bald Mountain near Benson Lake is wonderful; Benson Lake is a tremendous spot to visit for more than one day, Deer Lake Resort is a tremendous spot to camp nearby. Around Benson Lake you don’t get a lot of precipitation; December is the wettest month with most snow, and July is when it's the driest. High temperatures at Benson Lake throughout the days of summer are in the 80's. For the period of the  
   moonlight hours it's mostly in the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Benson Lake.
This lake is so wonderful. Really splendid skiing awaits you at 49 Degrees North, and Buzzard Lake is a glorious lake nearby. If you need a place to stay Ramada Inn & Suites Spokane is a nice choice. There are other places here than Benson Lake, for example Nelson Lake, and you can stay the night at Loon Lake Acres.

...thern Selkirk Mountains, the ski area has a unique climate due to its location one mile east of Flowery Trail Pass (4,046 ft) that produces moderate temperatures with consistent snow pack at higher elevations. The total snowfall at the ski area averages 300 inches or more, while the total average annual precipitation at the ski area is 36.10 inches, with 69 percent of the precipitation coming as snow between November to April.
During the winter, nearly all precipitation in the vicinity of the ski area falls as snow. In the town of Chewelah and the surrounding lower elevations west of Flowery Trial Pass the snow pack is limited; however, in the towns of Usk and Cusick, and the surrounding lower elevations east of Flowery Trail Pass, the snow pack is greater than the west side. Snow begins to accumulate in November and usually reaches its greatest depth and water content sometime during March.

Interesting to see this area via google satelitte...in 1892 my paternal grandfather purchased 95.5 acres along the river at the China Bend area from the govt. It must have been repurchased by the Bureau of Reclamation when the Dam was being considered. Glad it's still beautiful....
