Custom Search     Bench Lake   This is Bench Lake in the Bird Creek area of Mt. Adams, Washington. This is located on the Yakama Reservation portion of land called Tract D which was Treaty land deeded back to the tribes in 1973. Mt. Adams plays peekaboo here with Little Mt. Adams. The ranger of this area, Richard Canapo, stays in a trailer up the hill at the entrance by Mirror Lake and is a good source of local information as well as maps of the trails in the area. Permits are as follows: Entry permit... $5. 00 for a 5 day entry fee Camping and fishing permits are in addition to entry fees and are: Camping... $10. 00 per night per space Fishing ... $5. 00 per day or $10. 00 for 5 days You can have up to 12 pieces of split firewood per night of camping. I should add that the road in to this lake is a bit rough and rocky, a narrow dirt road. Be cautious watching for other traffic, and I would not take an extremely low car in here.
