Really magnificent skiing awaits you at Alpental; there's good hiking along the Pratt Lake Trail. But wait, there's more fun stuff to do in the Northern Cascade Range. Barclay Lake is delightful enough to spend more than a day at, San Juan Campground is a delightful local campground, and Paradise Meadow is a pleasant place to stretch your legs a bit. Now, you may imagine that's plenty but there's even more enjoyable stuff to do here at Barclay Lake. A great
place for whitewater paddling close to Barclay Lake is Skykomish River - South Fork, and tremendous hiking is available along the Middle Fork Trail.
Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Northern Cascade Range. In the event that you don't mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Money Creek, and after a long day outdoors Salish Lodge And Spa is a good site to spend a night or two. Barclay Lake generally gets lots of precipitation; the month of December is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month of the year is July. This lake is so wonderful. Skiing at Stephens Pass is one of those things you just should do.
