Willow Lake
Do not swim in Willow lake. Willow lake is an acidic cesspool that fish can't even live in. The water corodes the steel parts on our model boats that we sometimes run there. The water, if you are brave enough tastes like battery acid....
Fish Lake
Fishing at Queen Lucas Lake is trespassing on railroad property, isn't it? It is right in between two railroads? Tell me is it open to the public? wstorer@hotmail.com...$2 entry for over 6 years. Small lake with swimming beach and dock. Picnic tables and newer playground. Nice grassy patches to lounge in the shade. 12 miles from down town Spokane, great little get away for a summer day. Can rent paddle boats. Drawbacks: This is a very small recreational facility, so can get crowded on holidays. The playground is separated from swimming area, so can't watch children at playground from your 'beach camp', limited number of picnic tables. Otherwise great value for the money!...
Mt. Spokane
29 miles away Great Washington skiing, lots of black diamonds. Mount Spokane gets good snow and plenty of it. I love the left side of the mountain the most....
Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area
63 miles away Interesting to see this area via google satelitte...in 1892 my paternal grandfather purchased 95.5 acres along the river at the China Bend area from the govt. It must have been repurchased by the Bureau of Reclamation when the Dam was being considered. Glad it's still beautiful....
