Just can't get enough of the Northern Cascade Range. You're in all probability keen on lakes, Little Cougar Lake is one of those nearby, and if you came for an overnight stay Morse Creek Campground is a splendid place to camp. And if that's not enough there's lots more enjoyable stuff to do in the Northern Cascade Range. Crystal Mountain is a good local ski area, and Soda Springs Campground is a good campground       nearby. American Lake gets a lot of water; through January this area sees the most rain; the driest month of the year is July. Through the months of summer highs here at American Lake get into the 70's, and through the night it cools down to the 40's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 30's; winter nights come with lows in the 20's to American Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Swamp Lake Trail, and whitewater paddling is                  not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Summit Creek. Not sufficient hours in a day to enjoy this location. There are some splendid whitewater spots on Chinook Creek, and of course, this is a nice region for people who like lakes, Anderson Lake is a lake in the neighborhood. Don't leave American Lake without first going for a hike along the Sheep Lake Trail; everyone close by loves skiing at White Pass. If you need a site to stay Howard Johnson Snoqualmie/Summit is a magnificent choice; going for a hike on the Dewey Lake Trail is always a glorious adventure.
