Bob Adams: Winona Lake, or as it is known to the locals, Bristol Pond is Vermonts only 'real Peet bog'. The Lake offers about 100 acres of flat water...good for exploring in the canoe. The lake has a healthy population of very aggressive watersnakes, non-poisoness, but they like to get in boats...if you are curious about these creatures go to the two small Islands for a look.

If you are in this part of Vermont make sure to pay a visit to Winona Lake. Dry warm beds await you at Courtyard By Marriott Middlebury, and there is a great hiking trail close by called the Beaver Meadow Trail. Head up to Mad River Glen and strap some skis to your feet; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always have a look at nearby Bristol Pond. During the summer at Winona Lake highs are ordinarily in the 80's, and the night is slightly colder of course, mostly in the 50's. Trail is always a glorious adventure, and Maple Hill Campsites is a pleasant local campground. This lake is so wonderful. The snow is good at Sugarbush; close by you hit upon the Abbey Pond Trail which is a pleasant hiking trail.
Lakes? Sure, Baldwin Pond is in the neighborhood; Green Mt. Family Campground is a delightful campground nearby. Winona Lake gets a normal amount of annual precipitation; during the month of August you get the most rain around here while February is regularly the driest month.

Country Village Campgrounds

Camping in Vermont is such a fun thing to do. All the nice local attractions in close proximity and the nice variety of outdoors recreation will certainly have you coming back persistently.
Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop by nearby Fern Lake which is small and pristine. At this campground you will always have a delightful time. Getting to Neshobe River from Country Village Campground is simple, and Middlebury River has a great whitewater paddling spot nearby.
Outdoor recreation is bountiful, some of the enjoyable stuff you can do is swimming, playing golf at Neshobe Golf Club, whitewater paddling, hiking, and fishing, so you won’t run out of things to do.
The folks who look after the campground and all the nice pastime activities will make you feel at home. Quite a lot of cool stuff to do next to Country Village Campground, and it's one of those places where everything is close.
