This lake is one of the great places here in the Green Mountains. After a long day outdoors Hilltop Inn is a good spot to spend a night or two; if the weather is perfect, you can go for a hike along the Kettle Pond Trail. On a glorious day at Wheeler Pond you can take a hike along the Owls Head Trail, and pleasant skiing awaits you at Stowe.
This lake is so wonderful. There is a great hiking trail in the vicinity of Wheeler Pond called the Silver Ledge Trail,

and you can run the rapids of Winooski River. The high level of rain makes Wheeler Pond a quite wet location; August is the wettest month with most rain, and February meanwhile is the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. The top of Hobart Mountain is easily made out from Wheeler Pond, and Green Valley Campground is a fine local campground.
So much entertaining stuff to do in the Green Mountains, not enough time. While you're here at Wheeler Pond, you

could also check out gorgeous Tabor Pond, and it's a glorious idea to go to Dugar Brook. Summertime highs at Wheeler Pond mostly tend to be in the 60's; through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 10's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Wheeler Pond dip into the 0's. Blue Pond is a nearby lake that you could stop by, and The Inn at Montpelier is a pleasant site to get some rest.
Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this site. Now, you may feel that's plenty but there's even more entertaining stuff to do here at Wheeler Pond. Onion River Campground is a wonderful campground nearby, and Minister Brook is a great whitewater spot close by. There's no way somebody can get bored here in the Green Mountains. Wheeler Pond is not far at all from Barre, and an attention-grabbing thing to stop by close to Wheeler Pond is Curtis Pond Dam.
