For the duration                  of the summer at Lake Shaftsbury temperatures are commonly in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows drop down to the 50's. Highs during the wintertime are generally in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Lake Shaftsbury are in the 0's. Having a pleasant time in the Green Mountains is easy. Battenkill River has a great whitewater paddling spot nearby; there are other spots here than Lake Shaftsbury, for example Millers Pond. Any time is a magnificent time at Lake Shaftsbury if you go for the outdoors. Howell's Camping Area is a great local campground, and do take a hike on the West Ridge Trail. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Green Mountains.
