Go to Peabody Pond if you want to go to a nice lake. This is a popular site for people from Rutland. Nearby lakes? Sure, Hapgood Pond is next to Peabody Pond; the top of Holt Mountain is easily made out from Peabody Pond. Life's too short to enjoy all the fun stuff in the vicinity of Peabody Pond. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Big Branch, needless to say you could also go to Moses Pond while you're here; it's not far at all. This lake is so wonderful.

| | If you need a place to stay Winterplace on Okemo Mountain is a magnificent choice, and glorious hiking is available along the Little Michigan Trail. But wait, there's more fun stuff to do in the Green Mountains. The skiing at Magic Mountain is perfect, and Jackson Gore Inn on Okemo Mountain is a splendid location to get some rest. Peabody Pond gets a good deal of water; the month with most of the rain is August, and February meanwhile is the driest month. | |

Peabody Pond is located in the Green Mountains. Horseshoe Acres Camp Grounds is a tremendous campground nearby, and Bromley is a delightful local ski area. During the warm months at Peabody Pond highs are usually in the 80's; through
summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Highs through the winter are mostly in the 30's; during the dark hours in the wintertime at Peabody Pond temperatures plunge to the 10's. Having a delightful time in the Green Mountains
is simple. Drift down the rapids of West River in a kayak, and there's good hiking along the Utley Brook Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Peabody Pond; Jones Brook Trail is a great local trail, and you can stay the night at Otter Creek Campground.
