There's great hiking along the Bear Hill Trail, and East Montpelier Municipal Forest is worth checking out. Summer brings highs in the 60's to Nelson Pond. Throughout the moonlight hours it's commonly in the 50's. The winter brings highs       down to the 10's, and overnight lows in the 0's for Nelson Pond. Nelson Pond gets a great deal of water; the month with most of the rain is August while February is generally the driest month. If you want a fine time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Nelson Pond. The Silver Ledge Trail offers hiking at its best. Why not camp at Lazy Lions Campground since you're here at Nelson Pond, and Nelson Pond is a place with many visitors from Barre. You                  definitely ought to adore the Green Mountains. A good site to camp here at Nelson Pond is Green Valley Campground, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Winooski River. This lake is so wonderful. Everybody nearby loves skiing at Stowe; not far from Nelson Pond you'll discover Horn of the Moon Pond which is a lovely lake. These mountains rock, just look at all the enjoyable things to do in the Green Mountains. There's always Adamant Pond Dam to explore near Nelson Pond, and there are some splendid whitewater spots on Minister Brook. Beaver Meadow Brook is a delightful stream that is worth taking a look at, and don't leave Nelson Pond without first going for a hike along the Kettle Pond Trail.
