This lake is so wonderful. Head up to Burke Mountain and strap some skis to your feet; hiking along the Red Pine Trail is pleasant fun. High temperatures at Mud Ponds during the warm days of summer are in the 70's, and the nighttime is somewhat chillier of course, frequently in the 50's. Highs during the winter are usually in the 20's with temperatures at Mud Ponds dipping down into the 0's all through winter nights. A great close by hotel is Holiday Motel and Annex.
Mud Ponds is a good site of common precipitation; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Life's too short to enjoy all the cool stuff in the Green Mountains. The summit of Dolif Mountain can be seen from Mud Ponds, and a day on the slopes of Lyndon Outing Club is just what you need.
