Summer at Mud Pond comes with high temperatures in the 70's; through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Mud Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is splendid on Joe's Brook River, and after a long day outdoors Fairbanks Inn is a good place to spend a night or two. Mud Pond is a beautiful lake in the Green Mountains. Do take a look

| | at Shadow Lake Dam while you're here at Mud Pond; a splendid close by hotel is Super 8 Motel - Derby/Newport Area. You'll really wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the fun things in the Green Mountains. The top of Black Hills is easily observed from Mud Pond, and there's some flowing water nearby, Mud Pond Brook is a stream you can go to while you're here. This lake is so wonderful. to Mud Pond. There's so much to do here at Mud Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Belview Campground is a wonderful place for that. And if that's not enough, there's plenty more to do near Mud Pond. If only every spot
had this much outdoors cool stuff, what a great planet it would be. What would winter be without some skiing at Lyndon Outing Club, and on a good day you can take a hike along the Herbert Hawkes Hiking Trail. That right there is loads
of fun stuff already but it goes on, the Green Mountains has it all. Lakes are delightful; Runaway Pond is a lake that's close to Mud Pond, and you'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Burke Mountain since you're here.
If you don't mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Barton River, and not far from Mud Pond you'll hit upon Horse Pond which is a striking lake. From a precipitation point of view Mud Pond is a pretty
normal site; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month of the year is February. Mud Pond is glorious enough to spend more than a day at, Injun Joe Court is a glorious local campground, and close by you find the Mount Pisgah Trail which is a wonderful hiking trail.

It is a lake that talks to you, as far as my opinion goes. I lived in Newport,Newport Center (Bear Mountain) and Noth Troy when I was bewtween the ages of 9-13. I am now 42!
I just recently went back to Newport and that beautiful lake that talked to me, and i think it helped me figure out a part of my life that has been a little bit difficult to understand and move ahead.
