    Mud Pond is a lake worth visiting. This lake is so wonderful. Why not camp at Half Moon State Park Campground since you're here at Mud Pond, and dry warm beds await you at Best Western Ticonderoga Inn & Suites. Mud Pond is not far at all from Rutland; Conway Swamp is an exciting swamp in close proximity to Mud Pond. On a magnificent day at Mud Pond you can take a hike along the Daniel Coffey Memorial Trial, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you  
   can always take a look at close by Spruce Pond.
Mud Pond gets a common amount of yearly rainfall; August is the month that gets the most rain while February is frequently the driest month. Summertime highs at Mud Pond mostly tend to be in the 80's while night lows are generally in the 50's. Highs during the winter are typically in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Mud Pond are in the 0's. A cool spot to check out in the neighborhood of Mud Pond is Arnolds

This lake is so wonderful. You can run the rapids of Poultney River near Mud Pond, and the top of Bishop Hill is easily observed from Mud Pond. The Half Moon Pond Trail is a pleasant hiking trail near Mud Pond, and obviously, this is a splendid area for people who like lakes, Sunset Lake is a lake close at hand. Mud Pond in fact is in the middle of a wonderful outdoors paradise. Bomoseen State Park Campground is a pleasant local campground, and close by you discover the Glen Lake Trail which is a great hiking trail.
You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors entertaining things the area near Mud Pond has to offer. If you want to play some golf, you're in luck because Prospect Bay Country Club is close by, also Sunrise Lake Dam is worth going to if you're here.

...ivities will make you feel at home. Quite a lot of cool stuff to do next to Country Village Campground, and it's one of those places where everything is close.

If only every location had this much outdoor entertaining stuff, what a great planet it would be. A tremendous place like Half Moon Pond State Park is near Country Village Campground and is too wonderful to leave out, and going for a hike on the Falls of Lana Trail is always a perfect adventure. All through the warm days of summer at Country Village Campground highs are mostly in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's with winter lows in the 0's. When the weather is good here at Country Village Campground, you can go for a hike along the Chandler Ridge Trail, and the friendly people of Brandon like to hang out nearby. The Duval Trail is a delightful hiking trail next to Country Village Campground, and a day on Pico Mountain is just what you need.

White Rocks,great trail 0.8 miles up. Trails interstect with AT, check map before you go up. Two water falls on the left. First one could be risky to see always a wet gorge. Second is off the AT a short way. At the top is a rock art garden where a sign for White Rocks cliff trail 0.2 to overlook, great view west north and south. The peak was quite higher at one time in the past. Looking down over the cliff edge are three seperate rock falls which is the old peak....

Easy going trail from Mt Tabor to Rocky Pond, a 4 mile round trip, 1 1/2 to 2 hour hike. The hike is well worth seeing this breath taking pond. Very secluded & peaceful with tent sites and one or two shelters. Over night stays are 5.00 per person, per night. If you love 'roughing it' camping, this is a great place to go. I am enclosing a picture i took on June 19th 2007....
