There's some flowing water close by, Burgess Branch is a stream you can pop by while you're here, and you can run the rapids of Gihon River. McAllister Pond is a beautiful lake in the Green Mountains. Dry warm beds await you at Super 8 Motel - Derby/Newport Area. There's so much to do here at McAllister Pond that you need to camp here for a while,

McAllister Pond is a wet place that gets a lot of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is typically August, that's the one that rains the most, and February is when it's the driest. Going for a hike on the Bayley Hazen Military Road Trail is always a pleasant adventure, and get your heart beating on the good whitewater of Lamoille River - Wild Branch. Summer brings highs in the 80's to McAllister Pond, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 20's; winter nights come
with lows in the 0's to McAllister Pond. This lake is so wonderful. McAllister Pond is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Mill Brook Campground is a fine local campground, and hey, Gotta ski right? Jay Peak is a great location to do that.
