    If you like lakes and you're in this part of Vermont you can check out Lubber Lake. And that's not all the things you can do here in the Green Mountains. The South Shore Hiking Trail offers hiking at its best, and whitewater paddling is pleasant on Barton River. This lake is so wonderful. On a lovely day you can stop at Balm of Gilead Beach near Lubber Lake, and West Charleston Dam is a stunning place. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Lyndon Outing Club is  
   close to Lubber Lake; there are other spots here than Lubber Lake, for example Toad Pond.
From a precipitation point of view Lubber Lake is a reasonably common place; through the month of August you get the most rain around here, and the driest month of the year is February. For the period of the long summer days, highs commonly are in the 70's at Lubber Lake. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the
 
               20's while the cold winter nights at Lubber Lake are in the 0's. Orleans Country Club is a golf course in close proximity to Lubber Lake, and do visit Moody Brook while you're here at Lubber Lake.
This is no place for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves. Burke Mountain is a magnificent local ski area; lakes are such serene places, why not go to Pensioner Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Good hiking is available along the Mount Pisgah Trail, and you can stay the night at Will-o-wood Campground. So much enjoyable stuff in the Green Mountains, just inspiring. Clyde River has a nice whitewater paddling spot close by; a tremendous nearby hotel is Super 8 Motel - Derby/Newport Area.
If you go for the outdoors, you'll like Lubber Lake. There's so much to do here at Lubber Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Chargo Campground is a glorious location for that. This lake is one of the great places here in the Green Mountains. After a long day outdoors Holiday Motel and Annex is a pleasant place to spend a night or two, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Lubber Lake; Herbert Hawkes Hiking Trail is a nice local trail.
