Barre City Municipal Forest is a good forest vicinity right next door to Lower Orange Reservoir; this is a popular site for folks from Barre. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Green Mountains. While you're here at Lower Orange Reservoir you can take a hike along the Silver Ledge Trail, and a glorious location for whitewater paddling is Winooski River.
