There are some brilliant whitewater spots on Browns River, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Lily Pad Pond; Island Farm Nature Trail is a good local trail. Quality Inn is a perfect place to get some rest, and you could always look at Winooski Gorge. Campground, and not far from Lily Pad Pond you'll stumble on Colchester Pond which is a pretty lake.

driest month of the year is January. This lake is so wonderful. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always visit close by Winooski River Reservoir, and there's whitewater on Mill Brook for all you thrill seekers.
