A nice nearby hotel is Courtyard By Marriott Middlebury; Johnson Pond is a tremendous location to visit for more than one day, Half Moon State Park Campground is a tremendous location to camp nearby. You could also check out Lake Hortonia while you're here at Johnson Pond; it's close by, and after a long day outdoors The Middlebury       Inn is a great place to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Big D Campground, and Johnson Pond is not the only location nearby, Lake Hortonia is a nearby lake. Summertime highs at Johnson Pond usually tend to be in the 80's while night lows are commonly in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Johnson Pond. Paddling on Otter Creek is so much fun, and wonderful hiking                  is available along the Half Moon Pond Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Soar down the rapids of Poultney River in a kayak, and a round of golf at nearby Prospect Bay Country Club is a glorious way to kill some time. Don't leave Johnson Pond without first going for a hike along the Daniel Coffey Memorial Trial, also Lake Hortonia Dam is worth taking a look at while you're here. There are plenty of people from Rutland here at Johnson Pond. At Johnson Pond you can make out Felton Hill, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Johnson Pond; Glen Lake Trail is a brilliant local trail.
