Austin Pond Dam is worth stopping at while you're here, and going for a hike on the Daniel Coffey Memorial Trial is always a great adventure. If you need a place to stay The Middlebury Inn is a great choice, and get your heart beating on the nice whitewater of Poultney River. Don't leave High Pond without first checking out Barber Ledge; there are good places       to look at along the Half Moon Pond Trail. So much enjoyable stuff to do at High Pond, so little time. The nice folks of Rutland like to hang out close by. All through the warm days of summer at High Pond temperatures are typically in the 80's; the night is quite chillier of course, usually in the 50's. All through the winter highs are in the 20's while High Pond night low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 0's. Prospect Bay Country Club is a golf                  course in close proximity to High Pond. Lakes? Sure, Breese Pond is in the neighborhood. This lake is so wonderful. Big D Campground is a glorious local campground; swamps don’t sound that nice but Beaver Meadow near High Pond is quite nice. This lake is so wonderful. Page Point is rather near High Pond, and don't forget to take a great little visit to Giddings Brook. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always have a look at close by Halfmoon Lake, and you can go for a hike on the Bomoseen Hiking Loop. The annual precipitation here at High Pond is about average; August is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month of the year is February.
