    Halfmoon Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. After a long day outdoors The Middlebury Inn is a splendid site to spend a night or two, and Beaver Meadow is an interesting swamp near Halfmoon Lake. There's so much to do here at Halfmoon Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Half Moon State Park Campground is a delightful place for that, and the wonderful people of Rutland like to hang out nearby. This lake is so wonderful.  
   Take a hike on the Daniel Coffey Memorial Trial. Lakes are brilliant; High Pond is a lake that's in the neighborhood of Halfmoon Lake.
Not far from Halfmoon Lake, you'll stumble on Black Pond which is a pretty lake, and you are in close proximity to Page Point if you're here. Halfmoon Lake gets a common amount of annual precipitation; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain; February on the other hand is the driest. You'll wish for more
 
               hours in a day to enjoy all the cool stuff at Halfmoon Lake. Cedar Mountain is a peak you can see from Halfmoon Lake; why not spend some time golfing at a close by golf course like Prospect Bay Country Club.
I can't stop, cause I'm havin' a good time here at Halfmoon Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Courtyard By Marriott Middlebury is a magnificent place to get some rest; hiking along the Glen Lake Trail is pleasant fun. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Half Moon Pond Trail, and if you came to camp Bomoseen State Park Campground is a good spot to do that.
The warmest time of the year at Halfmoon Lake comes with high temperatures in the 80's. Throughout the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 50's. Throughout the winter the highs are commonly in the 20's while Halfmoon Lake nighttime low temperatures during the winter are in the 0's. There's always Said Dam to have a look at right next door to Halfmoon Lake, and whitewater paddling is splendid on Poultney River.

... is a well-known artist's village that is famous for several galleries shops and restaurants, and home to the well-know artist Warren Kimball. There are also many wonderful events held in the village including weekly farmers markets, and several festivals and parades throughout the year.

Country Village Campground has 41 spacious sites that can accommodate small tents all the way up to the largest of campers. The bath house is clean and spacious with hot showers, and it is located right in the middle of the campground for easy access to all sites.
A trip to Country Village Campground wouldn’t be complete without a visit to nearby Branbury State Park; nearby you hit upon the Silver Lake Trail which is a tremendous hiking trail. Camping in Vermont is such a fun thing to do. All the nice local attractions in close proximity and the nice variety of outdoors recreation will certainly have you coming back persistently.

Easy going trail from Mt Tabor to Rocky Pond, a 4 mile round trip, 1 1/2 to 2 hour hike. The hike is well worth seeing this breath taking pond. Very secluded & peaceful with tent sites and one or two shelters. Over night stays are 5.00 per person, per night. If you love 'roughing it' camping, this is a great place to go. I am enclosing a picture i took on June 19th 2007....

White Rocks,great trail 0.8 miles up. Trails interstect with AT, check map before you go up. Two water falls on the left. First one could be risky to see always a wet gorge. Second is off the AT a short way. At the top is a rock art garden where a sign for White Rocks cliff trail 0.2 to overlook, great view west north and south. The peak was quite higher at one time in the past. Looking down over the cliff edge are three seperate rock falls which is the old peak....
