If you need a place to stay Courtyard       Middlebury is a perfect choice, and there are plenty of people from Rutland here at Halfmoon Lake. Not far from Halfmoon Lake, you'll locate Black Pond which is a beautiful lake; swamps like Beaver Meadow close to Halfmoon Lake make for tremendous places to explore. Poultney River has a good whitewater paddling spot nearby; hiking is a popular thing to do around Halfmoon Lake; Daniel Coffey Memorial Trial is a fine local trail.
