If you need a place to stay Super 8 Motel - Derby/Newport Area is a perfect choice, and Lamoille River - Wild Branch is a fine whitewater spot close by. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always have a look at nearby Potters Pond; why not camp at Tree Corners Family Campground since you're here at Griggs Pond. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Green Mountains. The view of Chamberlain Hill from Griggs Pond is gorgeous.       But wait, there's more enjoyable stuff to do in the Green Mountains. A wonderful place for whitewater paddling near Griggs Pond is Barton River, and if you came for an overnight stay Barrewood Campground is a good site to camp. The Green Mountains scenery is always beautiful. Griggs Pond ordinarily gets a lot of rain; August is when you get the most rain here while February is typically the driest month. You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing                  at Jay Peak while you're here, and there are splendid places to explore along the Herbert Hawkes Hiking Trail. This is no place for people who don’t like to have a good time. Not far from Griggs Pond, you'll hit upon Hartwell Pond which is a striking lake; going for a hike on the Bayley Hazen Military Road Trail is always a glorious adventure. Summertime highs at Griggs Pond usually tend to be in the 80's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 50's.
