If you are in Addison county it's always a good idea to stop by Fern Lake. Fern Lake is a good location of typical rain; the month with most of the rain is August; the driest month of the year is February. Lakes? Sure, Burnell Pond is in the vicinity, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Otter Creek. This lake is so wonderful. | | campground, and on a magnificent day you can take a hike along the Chandler Ridge Trail. Fern Lake is located in the Green Mountains. But wait, there's more fun stuff to do in the Green Mountains. Gotta ski! Pico Mountain is a brilliant site to do that. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors cool things the Green Mountains has to offer. rest. Having a pleasant time in the Green Mountains is easy. One of the principal traits of the surroundings of Fern Lake is Lion Hill; there is a good hiking trail nearby called the Leicester Hollow Trail. This lake is so wonderful.
Going for a hike on the Silver Lake Trail is always a great adventure; do stop by Silver Lake Dam while you're here. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Fern Lake. Once the sun is down it descends down to the
50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's; winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Fern Lake. Camping at United State Forest Service Silver Lake Campground is always a delightful experience, and some of
the water close by flows, like Sucker Brook. Life's too short to enjoy all the cool things close to Fern Lake. Not far from Fern Lake, you'll find Spring Pond which is a scenic lake; why not spend some time golfing at a nearby golf
course like Neshobe Golf Club. Dry warm beds await you at The Middlebury Inn, and the slopes of Sugarbush are so inviting noone can resist. What a location this is for outdoors folks. Fern Lake is a place with many visitors from Rutland, and if you come at the right time of year, Middlebury River offers some perfect whitewater.

 | White Rocks,great trail 0.8 miles up. Trails interstect with AT, check map before you go up. Two water falls on the left. First one could be risky to see always a wet gorge. Second is off the AT a short way. At the top is a rock art garden where a sign for White Rocks cliff trail 0.2 to overlook, great view west north and south. The peak was quite higher at one time in the past. Looking down over the cliff edge are three seperate rock falls which is the old peak.... |
Country Village Campgrounds

The folks who look after the campground and all the nice pastime activities will make you feel at home. Quite a lot of cool stuff to do next to Country Village Campground, and it's one of those places where everything is close.
If only every location had this much outdoor entertaining stuff, what a great planet it would be. A tremendous place like Half Moon Pond State Park is near Country Village Campground and is too wonderful to leave out, and going for a hike on the Falls of Lana Trail is always a perfect adventure. All through the warm days of summer at Country Village Campground highs are mostly in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's with winter lows in the 0's. When the weather is good here at Country Village Campground, you can go for a hike along the Chandler Ridge Trail, and the friendly people of Brandon like to hang out nearby. The Duval Trail is a delightful hiking trail next to Country Village Campground, and a day on Pico Mountain is just what you need.

 | 11 miles away Been to Chittenden Brook Campgound for the last 15 years now...Best place I have ever camped anywhere in New England...Great babbling brook, thick woods..and not many camp sites!! This is true rustic camping...the only things offered at the campground is an outhouse and a brook for bathing..(coldest water I've ever been in).. wonderful hiking trails... beautiful beaver pond.... and generally some wonderful people around to sit around a fire with!!... |

Rocky Pond
