     A tremendous nearby hotel is Super 8 Motel - Derby/Newport Area, and you can go for a hike on the Mount Pisgah East Trail. Good hiking is available along the Pisgah Trail, and Duck Pond is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Char-Bo Campground is a fine local campground. Duck Pond is a good place of typical precipitation; August is when you get the most rain here, and February is when it's the driest. You're perhaps keen on lakes, Beaver Pond is one of  
   those close by.
This lake is so wonderful. Clyde River has a delightful whitewater paddling spot close by, and there's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at close by Burke Mountain. Nearby lakes? Sure, Round Pond is close to Duck Pond. There's so much to do here at Duck Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Char- BO Campground is a good location for that. I am suprised that I am being ask to be the first person to give input on this beautiful lake that spans northern VT into Canada. It is a lake that talks to you, as far as my opinion goes. I lived in Newport,Newport Center (Bear Mountain) and Noth Troy when I was bewtween the ages of 9-13. I am now 42!
