If you are in Grand Isle county it's always a good idea to stop by Devils Pond. A pleasant close by hotel is Stonehelm Motel, and don't forget to take a good little trip to Mud Creek. You don’t have to go far from Devils Pond to distinguish the water at Mud Creek Dam; if you come at the right time of year, Salmon River offers some perfect whitewater. The Southern Tip Trail is a glorious hiking trail next to Devils Pond. A normal amount of rainfall falls here at Devils

lake is so wonderful. Mud Creek Pond is a nearby lake that you could stop by, and on a fine day you can take a hike along the North Shore Trail. While you're here at Devils Pond, you could also visit pretty Eagle Pond, and do schedule
some time to visit Balm of Gilead Point if you have a chance. For the period of the summertime at Devils Pond highs are typically in the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. Daytime highs throughout
the wintertime are in the 20's while Devils Pond overnight low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 0's. While you're here at Devils Pond you will meet lots of people from nearby Burlington-South Burlington; camping is available at Goose Point Campground.

This campground is now called Shady Oaks RV Park. We like staying at this campground and do so everytime we go to the Plattsburgh area. It is a very quite place and the owners a very nice people. This place is well kept and clean. Close to all resorts for sight seeing. We camp there every summer.... |

 | 19 miles away More strainers in this river than I have ever seen, anywhere. Upper part to 87 could be a great run at about 2 1/2 feet(guage on bridge on salmon river rd.) Again, have to be aware of strainers, most are river wide. Dont bother with 87 east to lake champlain, mostly flat with over twenty beaver dams. Lots of leaches.... |
