    Many people like to go to Danby Pond. After a long day outdoors Manchester View Fine Lodging is a great place to spend a night or two, and Danby Pond is not far at all from Rutland. There's no way someone can get bored here in the Green Mountains. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Green Mountain Trail, and get covered with water paddling on Mill River. You just can't envision the amount of outdoors enjoyable stuff the area close to Danby Pond has to  
   offer.
This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Otter Creek Campground is always a nice experience, and if you get bored of Danby Pond you could also visit nearby Chipman Lake. Danby Pond is located in the Green Mountains. Camping is available at Campground A; hiking along the Lake Trail is wonderful fun.
Whitewater paddling is glorious on Big Branch, and a perfect close by hotel is Inns at the Equinox. This lake is so wonderful. Getting to Weatherby Brook
 
               from Danby Pond is simple, and Danby Pond is not the only site close by, Emerald Lake is a close by lake. Danby Pond truly is in the middle of a lovely outdoors paradise. Colvin Hill is a peak you can see from Danby Pond, and you'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Bromley since you're here.
Yep, outdoors amusing stuff truly is abundant here in the Green Mountains. Danby Pond is right by the Baker Peak Trail, and what would winter be without some skiing at Snow Valley. A typical amount of precipitation falls here at Danby Pond; the wettest month of the year is mostly August, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month is February. During the summer months highs here at Danby Pond reach the 80's with nighttime lows in the 50's. High temperatures throughout the wintertime are normally in the 20's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Danby Pond temperatures sink to the 0's.

Easy going trail from Mt Tabor to Rocky Pond, a 4 mile round trip, 1 1/2 to 2 hour hike. The hike is well worth seeing this breath taking pond. Very secluded & peaceful with tent sites and one or two shelters. Over night stays are 5.00 per person, per night. If you love 'roughing it' camping, this is a great place to go. I am enclosing a picture i took on June 19th 2007....
