These mountains rock, just look at all the enjoyable things to do in the Green Mountains. If you need a location to stay Killington Grand Resort Hotel is a good choice, and do take a hike on the Juggernaut Trail. Float down the rapids of Big Branch in a kayak, and you'll meet a lot  
   of folks from Rutland here.
You simply ought to go for the Green Mountains. If you're here at Cooks Pond, you could have a look at Gould Brook, and Cooks Pond is right by the Bucklin Trail. There's so much to do here at Cooks Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Iroquois Land Family Campground is a wonderful place for that, and Killington is a very popular ski area close at hand. Cooks Pond gets a common amount of precipitation; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month is February. This lake is so wonderful. Paddling on Mill River is so much fun, and Spring Lake is a nearby lake that you could check out. This lake is so wonderful. A nice close by hotel is Glazebrook Townhouses; the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Pico Mountain.
So many enjoyable things to do at Cooks Pond, so little time. Stay the night at Night Eagle Wilderness; hiking along the Keewaydin Trail is splendid fun. This lake is one of the great places here in the Green Mountains. While you're here at Cooks Pond, you could also have a look at lovely Johnson Pond; the summit of Comtois Hill can be observed from Cooks Pond.

Easy going trail from Mt Tabor to Rocky Pond, a 4 mile round trip, 1 1/2 to 2 hour hike. The hike is well worth seeing this breath taking pond. Very secluded & peaceful with tent sites and one or two shelters. Over night stays are 5.00 per person, per night. If you love 'roughing it' camping, this is a great place to go. I am enclosing a picture i took on June 19th 2007....

South of Rutland rt 7 south to rt 140 east. Entrance is not easily seen. A up hill right off 140 then a quick left up hill, and a quick right again. Just a little sign. Before the right turn on 140 you will see white rocks used as drainage. the turn is shortly there after. Rocky road. Hope this helps....

Been to Chittenden Brook Campgound for the last 15 years now...Best place I have ever camped anywhere in New England...Great babbling brook, thick woods..and not many camp sites!! This is true rustic camping...the only things offered at the campground is an outhouse and a brook for bathing..(coldest water I've ever been in).. wonderful hiking trails... beautiful beaver pond.... and generally some wonderful people around to sit around a fire with!!...
