Mill River is a splendid whitewater spot next to Combination Pond, and if you're going to from Rutland, you won't be the only one. Skiing at Pico Mountain is one of those things you just must do; a round of golf at nearby Rutland Country Club is a great way to kill some time. During the warm months, highs regularly are in the 80's at Combination Pond with night lows in the 50's. Through the winter highs are in the 20's; winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Combination Pond. If you fancy the outdoors you'll fancy it here in the Green Mountains.
