     The beauty of Chipman Lake attracts many people from all around. Red Roof Inn Rutland - Killington is a wonderful location to get some rest. If you love the outdoors you'll love it here in the Green Mountains. Elfin Lake is a brilliant lake close to Chipman Lake, and drift down the rapids of Big Branch in a kayak. Chipman Lake gets a typical amount of rainfall; through August this area sees the most rain, and February meanwhile is the driest month.
So many amusing
 
   things to do at Chipman Lake, so little time. Going for a hike on the Green Mountain Trail is always a delightful adventure; you'll meet a lot of folks from Rutland here. You'll beyond doubt wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the exciting things in the Green Mountains. Lakes? Sure, Danby Pond is close by, and one of the governing marks of the surroundings of Chipman Lake is Clark Mountain. Chipman Lake is one of the lakes here in the Green Mountains.
 
               Don't leave Chipman Lake without first going for a hike along the Baker Peak Trail, and if you came to camp Otter Creek Campground is a good spot to do that. There are good places to explore along the Homer Stone Trail; Chipman Lake is glorious enough to spend more than a day at, Campground A is a glorious local campground. During the summer here at Chipman Lake, high temperatures regularly get into the 80's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 20's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Chipman Lake dip into the 0's.
This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Holiday Inn Rutland/Killington Area, Vt, and what would winter be without some skiing at Snow Valley. This lake is so wonderful. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Mill River, and you'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Bromley while you're here.

Easy going trail from Mt Tabor to Rocky Pond, a 4 mile round trip, 1 1/2 to 2 hour hike. The hike is well worth seeing this breath taking pond. Very secluded & peaceful with tent sites and one or two shelters. Over night stays are 5.00 per person, per night. If you love 'roughing it' camping, this is a great place to go. I am enclosing a picture i took on June 19th 2007....

South of Rutland rt 7 south to rt 140 east. Entrance is not easily seen. A up hill right off 140 then a quick left up hill, and a quick right again. Just a little sign. Before the right turn on 140 you will see white rocks used as drainage. the turn is shortly there after. Rocky road. Hope this helps....
