A visit to Burr Pond is always a good idea. Dry warm beds await you at The Middlebury Inn, and if you're a golfer then a fine close by course is Prospect Bay Country Club. Go for a hike on the Daniel Coffey Memorial Trial, and soar down the rapids of Poultney River in a kayak. Courtyard By Marriott Middlebury is a tremendous place to get some rest, and you'll meet a lot of folks from Rutland here. There's wonderful hiking along the Bomoseen Hiking Loop,

| | and if you get bored of Burr Pond you could also stop at close by Huff Pond. An average amount of precipitation falls at Burr Pond; the month with most of the rain is August, and February on the other hand is the driest. Be careful coming to Burr Pond, you might not ever wanna return home again. Camping at Half Moon State Park Campground is always a splendid experience; Echo Lake is a nearby lake that you could take a look at. This lake is so wonderful. | |

Don't leave Burr Pond without first going for a hike along the Half Moon Pond Trail; you get a great view of Eagle Rock from here. Paddling on Otter Creek is so much fun, and do pop by Burr Pond Dam since you're here. This lake is
so wonderful. Burr Pond is magnificent enough to spend more than a day at, Big D Campground is a magnificent local campground, and some out of the ordinary geology is available here, Barber Ledge is right here. Summertime at Burr
Pond comes with high temperatures in the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 20's; overnight lows at Burr Pond during the winter usually sink into the 0's. If you want a fine time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Burr Pond.

Country Village Campgrounds

The bath house is clean and spacious with hot showers, and it is located right in the middle of the campground for easy access to all sites. A trip to Country Village Campground wouldn’t be complete without a visit to nearby Branbury State Park; nearby you hit upon the Silver Lake Trail which is a tremendous hiking trail. Camping in Vermont is such a fun thing to do. All the nice local attractions in close proximity and the nice variety of outdoors recreation will certainly have you coming back persistently.
Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop by nearby Fern Lake which is small and pristine. At this campground you will always have a delightful time. Getting to Neshobe River from Country Village Campground is simple, and Middlebury River has a great whitewater paddling spot nearby.

 | 11 miles away White Rocks,great trail 0.8 miles up. Trails interstect with AT, check map before you go up. Two water falls on the left. First one could be risky to see always a wet gorge. Second is off the AT a short way. At the top is a rock art garden where a sign for White Rocks cliff trail 0.2 to overlook, great view west north and south. The peak was quite higher at one time in the past. Looking down over the cliff edge are three seperate rock falls which is the old peak.... |

 | 18 miles away South of Rutland rt 7 south to rt 140 east. Entrance is not easily seen. A up hill right off 140 then a quick left up hill, and a quick right again. Just a little sign. Before the right turn on 140 you will see white rocks used as drainage. the turn is shortly there after. Rocky road. Hope this helps.... |

This is true rustic camping...the only things offered at the campground is an outhouse and a brook for bathing..(coldest water I've ever been in).. wonderful hiking trails... beautiful beaver pond.... and generally some wonderful people around to sit around a fire with!!... |
