Vermont has many beautiful lakes and Big Pond is one of them. This lake is so wonderful. There's great hiking along the Atwood Trail, and if you came to camp Holysmoke Camps is a brilliant location to do that. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Roaring Branch; Big Pond is right by the Old Stage Trail. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Haystack, and the Molly Stark Trail offers hiking at its best.
From Big Pond you obtain a

nice vista of Hagar Hill, and on a great day you can check out Beaver Meadows, a swamp close to Big Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Get soaked paddling on Walloomsac River; a brilliant close by hotel is Alexandra B and B. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Big Pond, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. For the duration of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's with temperatures at Big Pond dipping down into the 0's during
               winter nights.
You could also visit Bugbee Pond if you're here at Big Pond; it's close by, and why not stop by Bugbee Pond Dam while you're here. You feel that's sufficient? Just getting warmed up. If you need a spot to stay Knights Inn Bennington is a perfect choice. There's so much to do here at Big Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Red Mill Brook Campground is a pleasant spot for that. Life's too short to enjoy all the exciting stuff in the vicinity of Big Pond. The snow is perfect at Mount Snow.
All the water falling down from the sky makes Big Pond a wet place; August is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month is February. People from Bennington love to come to Big Pond, and probably you're looking for nearby lakes? Sure, Bugbee Mill Pond is just a very short distance away.

WOW. don't come here unless you been paddlin for some time. Although a bit easier than CL5 I have done in other states, this still comes at you fast. Not easy to find a place to stay if looking for a room as it was stated here. Wasn't hard to find a place and park for the night though and with a mini van with DVDs, we snuggled up nice, with noone to bother us. Oh yeah, nice and cool at night (although summer) glad we had a lot of blankets and ways to stay warm....

...mention killing the fish and environment) we should stop building around the world, this is one contribution to global warming and obviously the fact that we will eventually outgrow our environment. I suggest rebuilding ontop of old houses if you have the money to build a new house at all otherwise, renovate.I also wish to somehow reduce population which is nearly impossible to do all over the world, china has a good system for that (though a little strict its neccessary you only need two at the most anyway more than that is just rediculous) in building, we need roads, well when it rains the roads and the houses prevent the acidic rain from penetrating and filtering throughout the peat and other minerals in the ground. This filtration helps maintain proper ph (affects fish immensely) and filter sediment out (which hinders the gills of fish)not to mention aids in producing topsoil. so the acid rain is now draining in ditches and along the road into ... sadawga, harriman res., and any other local streams which WILL go to larger bodys of water affecting the fish in numerous ways. I'm ju...
