    If you like lakes and you're in this part of Vermont you can check out Bancroft Pond. Be careful coming to the Green Mountains, you might not ever want to go back home again. You're sure to encounter some smiling folks from Barre here, and Bancroft Pond is right by the Owls Head Trail. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Winooski River; after a long day outdoors Hollow Inn and Motel is a good spot to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. A forest  
   right next door to Bancroft Pond is Jones State Forest, and Bancroft Pond is a wonderful site to visit for more than one day, Onion River Campground is a wonderful site to camp nearby.
Bancroft Pond is a beautiful lake in the Green Mountains. The vista of Maple Hill from Bancroft Pond is charming, and why not take a little spree to Lanes Brook since you're here. If you come at the right time of year, Minister Brook offers some glorious whitewater.
 
               That right there is plenty of cool things already but it goes on, the Green Mountains has it all. Barre-Days Inn Barre/Montpelier is a tremendous spot to get some rest; the Silver Ledge Trail offers hiking at its best. Whohoo, so many entertaining things in one place! Bancroft Pond rules! While you're here at Bancroft Pond, you could also take a look at delightful Laird Pond, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Bancroft Pond; Kettle Pond Trail is a good local trail. Summertime highs at Bancroft Pond usually tend to be in the 70's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's commonly in the 50's. Highs throughout the wintertime are generally in the 20's, and overnight lows in the 0's for Bancroft Pond.
This lake is so wonderful. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Bancroft Pond has to offer, you can camp at Spooners Trailer Park and Campground; Mud Pond is a nearby lake that you could explore. Bancroft Pond is a good location of common rain; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and February is when it's the driest.

We have been campers on Ticklenaked Pond for 30 plus years and love it's pristine water and oh yes....the loons. We have now been seasonal campers for 8 years and plan on many more. This is a wonderful family campground with much to enjoy such as a fishing derby for the kids, pot luck dinners, karaoke, live bands at least a couple of times during the season, paddle boats to rent, swimming, boating, hot showers and many, many, wonderful folks.
The proprietors, Harry and Sandy Cushing are great hosts. Come join us for a night, a weekend or for the season.
