     Austin Pond is a nice lake to visit. This location is peerless, just explore all the exciting stuff to do near Austin Pond. You can run the rapids of Poultney River in the vicinity of Austin Pond, and if you need a place to stay The Middlebury Inn is a wonderful choice. This lake is so wonderful. At Austin Pond you can make out Eagle Rock. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Austin Pond has to offer, you can camp at Half Moon State Park Campground.  
   Interesting geology is available here; Barber Ledge is right next door to Austin Pond, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Austin Pond; Half Moon Pond Trail is a brilliant local trail.
There are plenty of folks from Rutland here at Austin Pond; there's good hiking along the Daniel Coffey Memorial Trial. This lake is so wonderful. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always visit close by Roach Pond, and Austin Pond is near Hubbardton Gulf
 
               which is certainly worth a visit.
So much cool stuff to do at Austin Pond, so little time. Dry warm beds await you at Courtyard By Marriott Middlebury, and get your pulse rate up on the good whitewater of Otter Creek. Lakes? Sure, Beebe Pond is nearby; Austin Pond Dam is a beautiful site, certainly worth checking out. The Bomoseen Hiking Loop offers hiking at its best; since you're here, you could explore Giddings Brook.
If you're here at Austin Pond and you like golf, you can go to Prospect Bay Country Club, and Austin Pond is a wonderful location to visit for more than one day, Big D Campground is a wonderful location to camp nearby. The annual precipitation here at Austin Pond is about average; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain; the driest month is February. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Austin Pond. Throughout the moonlight hours it's mostly in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's; after the sun is down throughout the winter temperatures at Austin Pond sink into the 0's.

...ill always have a delightful time. Getting to Neshobe River from Country Village Campground is simple, and Middlebury River has a great whitewater paddling spot nearby.

Outdoor recreation is bountiful, some of the enjoyable stuff you can do is swimming, playing golf at Neshobe Golf Club, whitewater paddling, hiking, and fishing, so you won’t run out of things to do.

The folks who look after the campground and all the nice pastime activities will make you feel at home. Quite a lot of cool stuff to do next to Country Village Campground, and it's one of those places where everything is close.

If only every location had this much outdoor entertaining stuff, what a great planet it would be. A tremendous place like Half Moon Pond State Park is near Country Village Campground and is too wonderful to leave out, and going for a hike on the Falls of Lana Trail is always a perfect adventure. All through the warm days of summer at Country Village Campground highs are mostly in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the ...

White Rocks,great trail 0.8 miles up. Trails interstect with AT, check map before you go up. Two water falls on the left. First one could be risky to see always a wet gorge. Second is off the AT a short way. At the top is a rock art garden where a sign for White Rocks cliff trail 0.2 to overlook, great view west north and south. The peak was quite higher at one time in the past. Looking down over the cliff edge are three seperate rock falls which is the old peak....

Easy going trail from Mt Tabor to Rocky Pond, a 4 mile round trip, 1 1/2 to 2 hour hike. The hike is well worth seeing this breath taking pond. Very secluded & peaceful with tent sites and one or two shelters. Over night stays are 5.00 per person, per night. If you love 'roughing it' camping, this is a great place to go. I am enclosing a picture i took on June 19th 2007....

South of Rutland rt 7 south to rt 140 east. Entrance is not easily seen. A up hill right off 140 then a quick left up hill, and a quick right again. Just a little sign. Before the right turn on 140 you will see white rocks used as drainage. the turn is shortly there after. Rocky road. Hope this helps....
