This location is peerless, just explore all the exciting stuff to do near Austin Pond. You can run the rapids of Poultney River in the vicinity of Austin Pond, and if you need a place to stay The Middlebury Inn is a wonderful choice. This lake is so wonderful. At Austin Pond you can make out Eagle Rock. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Austin Pond has to offer, you can camp at Half Moon State Park Campground.       Interesting geology is available here; Barber Ledge is right next door to Austin Pond, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Austin Pond; Half Moon Pond Trail is a brilliant local trail. There are plenty of folks from Rutland here at Austin Pond; there's good hiking along the Daniel Coffey Memorial Trial. This lake is so wonderful. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always visit close by Roach Pond, and Austin Pond is near Hubbardton Gulf                  which is certainly worth a visit.
