What a nice lake Woodglen Lake is. Woodglen Lake is a good place of typical rainfall; May is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month is January. If you're a golfer then a great close by course is Burke Lake Park Golf Course. At Woodglen Lake during the summer highs are in the 80's, and the nighttime is rather cooler of course, frequently in the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Woodglen

You'll meet a lot of people from Washington-Arlington-Alexandria here, and after a long day outdoors Comfort Inn University Center is a great spot to spend a night or two. A tremendous place for whitewater paddling near Woodglen Lake is Accotink Creek; a delightful lake like Lake Royal is a good place to check out. There are fine spots to explore along the North Valley Trail; a fine nearby hotel is The Bailiwick Inn. | |

Mountain View Campground At Silver Lake is a good local campground; lakes are such serene sites, why not pop by Lake Barton. Woodglen Lake in fact is in the middle of a wonderful outdoors paradise. East Fork Popes Head Creek is a
magnificent place to stop at; Pohick Creek is a tremendous whitewater spot close by. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Gold Mine Trail is always a good adventure, and why not camp at Hillwood Camping Park while you're
here at Woodglen Lake. The sights at Fort Washington Park will blow your mind, and don't leave Woodglen Lake without first going for a hike along the Potomac Heritage Trail.

Pohick Creek
 | ...s road vice the walk down from the sub division noted in AWA write-up. The whole run from Hooves to bridge at Route 1 took me 2 hours of paddling straight, no playing. 40 mins of that was in the dark or near dark. Nice and worth while run if you have the time. 3 mandatory portages in first 2 miles from Hooves to valley area behind Rolling Road subdivision due to down trees. If you're short on time, just put on by the walk way down to the creek from that neighborhood (can't remember the street) off Rolling road. That's where the fun rock garden area is. Easy section and really fun creek type section where all the gradient drop off is. Great area to practice beginner creek style running. Next run will be South run of the Pohick when it comes back up. I looked at it yesterday too and thought it was runable but higher than 220 would be better, I'm guessing 250 -275 cfs. I pretty sure Pohick will not be runable today.
