Shadow Ridge Golf Course is a brilliant golf course nearby, and after a long day outdoors Madison Heights Knights Inn is a nice place to spend a night or two. If you come at the right time of year, Piney River offers some glorious whitewater; perfect hiking is available along the Tolley Gap Trail. Buffalo River Dam Number Two is not far at all from Thrasher Lake; hiking is a popular thing to do around Thrasher Lake; White       Rock Gap Trail is a pleasant local trail. Summertime highs at Thrasher Lake ordinarily tend to be in the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and overnight lows in the 20's for Thrasher Lake. This lake is so wonderful. This is a popular place for people from Lynchburg, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Cold Spring Bald Mountain Trail. Visit Franklin Creek since you're here                  at Thrasher Lake, and Oronoco Campground is a good local campground. Thrasher Lake is a rather wet place regularly with lots of rainfall; the month of October is the wettest with most of the rain, and January is the month with the least moisture. If you want a perfect time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Thrasher Lake. Drift down the rapids of Buffalo River in a kayak, and if you came for an overnight stay Piney River Campground is a tremendous place to camp. Lakes are such calm locations, why not have a look at Sweetbriar Lake in close proximity to Thrasher Lake, and Jennings Mountain is painless to spot from Thrasher Lake. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the exciting stuff at Thrasher Lake. This lake is so wonderful.
