Through the winter the highs are commonly in the 30's; after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Thompson Lake fall into the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. Not far from Thompson Lake, you'll discover Spring Lake which is a striking lake; you can have a tremendous hiking adventure along the Belle Meade Linden Trail. There's no way anyone can       get bored here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Camping is available at Sky Meadows State Park, and going for a hike along the Rattlesnake Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood. So much amusing stuff to do in the Blue Ridge Mountains, not enough time. The vista of Brushy Mountain from Thompson Lake is picturesque; if you need a place to stay Quality Inn Skyline Drive is a great choice. Just can't get enough of Thompson Lake. Why not                  camp at Shenandoah River State Park while you're here at Thompson Lake, and you don’t have to go far from Thompson Lake to catch a glimpse of the water at Thompson Dam. The annual precipitation here at Thompson Lake is about average; all through the month of July you get the most rain around here; January meanwhile is the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Rock Spring is always fun to check out, and whitewater paddling is splendid on Shenandoah River. Dry warm beds await you at Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites FRONT ROYAL BLUE RIDGE SHADOWS, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop by nearby Mathews Pond. Thompson Lake is a beautiful lake in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
