Thompson Lake is a beautiful lake in the Blue Ridge Mountains. You'll truly wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the entertaining stuff in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Camping at Thompson Lake is perfect fun, Shenandoah River State Park is a perfect local campground; Rock Spring is an inspiring site to explore while you're here. But wait, there's more to do close to Thompson Lake. Dry warm beds       await you at Inn At Fairfield Farm; on a wonderful day you can take a hike along the Rattlesnake Trail. That right there is loads of fun things already but it goes on, the Blue Ridge Mountains has it all. Here at Thompson Lake you'll almost certainly meet some people from Hagerstown-Martinsburg; paddling on Shenandoah River is so much fun. The amount of precipitation that falls at Thompson Lake is close to the national average; July is the month that gets                  the most rain, and the driest month of the year is January. This lake is so wonderful. There is a fine hiking trail close to Thompson Lake called the Dickey Hill Trail, and Mountain View Motel is a good place to get some rest. Why not camp at Sky Meadows State Park if you're here at Thompson Lake, and get wet paddling on Rappahannock River. This lake is so wonderful. The top of Brushy Mountain is easily made out from Thompson Lake. Thompson Dam is a gorgeous spot in the vicinity of Thompson Lake, and if the weather is pleasant, you can go for a hike along the Belle Meade Linden Trail. Throughout the summer months highs here at Thompson Lake get into the 80's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's.
