This lake is so wonderful. The Little Passage Trail is a good hiking trail next to Tailings Pond, and a good spot to camp here at Tailings Pond is Buffalo Gap Community Camp. Tailings Pond is pleasant enough to spend more than a day at, Cove Campgrounds is a pleasant local campground, and some nearby water includes Dry Run. Don't leave Tailings Pond without first paying a visit to Mine Spring, and you don’t have       to go far from Tailings Pond to spot the water at Unimin Tailings Dam. If you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Back Creek - Potomac Tributary, and if you need a location to stay Courtyard by Marriott Winchester is a magnificent choice. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Tailings Pond you can take a hike along the Old Romney Grade; a lake close by is Fresh Water Pond. Nearby Yellow Spring Hollow is a good                  spot to go if you're at Tailings Pond, and Tailings Pond is not the only location nearby, Beaver Lake is a nearby lake. For the period of the days of summer at Tailings Pond highs are frequently in the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 60's. For the period of the wintertime highs are usually in the 30's; winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Tailings Pond. On a great day at Tailings Pond you can take a hike along the Signal Knob Trail. This is no place for people who don’t like to have fun.
