A visit to Stevens Lake is always a good idea. If you came for an overnight stay Lake Nelson Campground is a great site to camp, and Freshwater Cove is in close proximity, and is a great site. This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Mills Creek Trail, and not far from Stevens Lake you obtain some nice water scenery at Stevens Lake Dam. Stevens Lake is a reasonably wet place generally with a great deal of rain; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily
October, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest of the months is January.
Don't leave Stevens Lake without first going for a hike along the Turkey Pen Ridge Trail, and skiing at Wintergreen is one of those things you just should do. Get your heart pumping on the delightful whitewater of Rucker Run, and one of the major features of the surroundings of Stevens Lake is Cabell Mountain. During the warmest time of the year here at Stevens Lake, high

temperatures usually get into the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. All through the winter the highs are typically in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Stevens Lake.
No way I can stop, cause I'm havin' a delightful time here at Stevens Lake. Going for a hike on the White Rock Gap Trail is always a good adventure, and there's whitewater on Tye River for all you thrill seekers. If you need a spot to stay Wintergreen Resort is a good choice, and you're perhaps hooked on lakes, Nelson Lake is one of those close by. This lake is so wonderful. Class I-II, nice scenery. Might have difficulty getting to marked put in point. take out point is just before bridge on river right. cars will have to go across bridge and pull off just around sharp right corner. Old rock bridge piling could be climbed (50 ft +/-) with proper protection (most likely top roped)....

Sherando Lake Campground
13 miles away
Well me and my family have been going to Sharando Lake ever since I was born and we havn't gone anywhere else I love sherando and I can't wait to go back for another memorable camping weekend!...As close to perfect a camping experience as you can get: 1) Private, secluded, spacious campsites 2)access to flush toilets and showers, 3) a breathtakingly beautiful lake/swim area 4)hiking trails. WORD OF CAUTION: in-season, all sites are snapped up by Thurday noon for the weekend. Come on Sunday for best selection or before Thursday if you want a shot at a campsite. They don't take reservations (as of 8/2006) Wish they would so everyone could have a shot at a weekend camping trip there, not just the locals who can zip in and set a few camping chairs on the sites on Thursday to claim it for the weekend. ...
