What a nice lake Sportsman Lake is. While you're here at Sportsman Lake you can take a hike along the Turk Branch Trail. For the duration of the summertime at Sportsman Lake temperatures are regularly in the 80's, and the overnight is slightly colder of course, mostly in the 60's. This lake is so wonderful. On a glorious day at Sportsman Lake you can take a hike along the Turk Mountain Trail, and there's whitewater on Hardware River - South Fork for all you adrenaline rush seekers. if it's for you then we recommend Moormans River; not far from Sportsman Lake you get some nice water scenery at Sportsman Dam. This lake is so wonderful. Here at Sportsman Lake there are plenty of folks from Charlottesville, and
if you need a place to stay Quality Inn Waynesboro is a great choice.
The amount of rain that falls at Sportsman Lake is close to the national average; most of the rain falls throughout August; January is when it's the driest.
Charlottesville Koa Kampground is a glorious campground nearby, and there is a good hiking trail nearby called the Sawmill Ridge Trail. At Sportsman Lake you can make out Yellow Mountain, and after a long day outdoors Boars Head Inn
is a great place to spend a night or two.
Quick Hollow is in close proximity to Sportsman Lake and is certainly a tremendous site to check out; of course Dollins Creek flows through this region.
