On a pleasant day at Smithleigh Lake you can take a hike along the Little North Mountain Trail, and Jennings Branch has a perfect whitewater paddling spot close by. There is a nice hiking trail near Smithleigh Lake called the Shillings Trail, and if you get bored of Smithleigh Lake you could also visit nearby Boy Scout Lake. From a rainfall point of view Smithleigh Lake is a rather       typical location; July is the wettest month with most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. And that's not all you can do here at Smithleigh Lake. There's so much to do here at Smithleigh Lake that you need to camp here for a while, North River Campground is a brilliant place for that, and if you need a place to stay Howard Johnson Express Inn Staunton is a perfect choice.
