So many enjoyable things to do here at Smithleigh Lake, too tremendous to be true. After a long day outdoors Holiday Inn Staunton-Golf & Conf Ctr, Va is a good location to spend a night or two; do take a hike on the Shillings Trail. The Trimbles Mill Trail offers hiking at its best, and Smithleigh Lake is a place with many visitors from Staunton-Waynesboro. This lake is so wonderful. Howard Johnson Express Inn Staunton       is a great spot to get some rest, and in the event that you don’t have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Middle River. Do stop at Smithleigh Dam since you're here at Smithleigh Lake, and why not camp at Walnut Hills Campground since you're here at Smithleigh Lake. All through the summer months highs here at Smithleigh Lake get into the 70's while overnight lows are usually in the 50's. For the duration of the wintertime the highs                  are typically in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Smithleigh Lake are in the 10's. North River Campground is a delightful local campground, and Jennings Branch is a tremendous whitewater spot close by. The annual rainfall here at Smithleigh Lake is about average; the wettest month of the year is generally July, that's the one that rains the most while February is typically the driest month. This lake is so wonderful.
