All the water falling down from the sky makes Shrader Lake a wet place; October is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest of the months is January. This lake is so wonderful. You can run the rapids of Tye River right next door to Shrader Lake; a round of golf at nearby Shadow Ridge Golf Course is a delightful way to kill some time. Madison Heights Knights Inn is a nice spot to       get some rest. If you want a brilliant time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Shrader Lake. Dry warm beds await you at Craddock Terry Hotel, and Shrader Lake is not far at all from Lynchburg. Stay the night at Lake Nelson Campground, and get your heart beating on the brilliant whitewater of Buffalo River. Shrader Lake is a brilliant place to visit for more than one day, James River State Park is a brilliant place to camp nearby, and why not a little                  side trip to Middle Branch Rocky Creek. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Wintergreen is in the neighborhood of Shrader Lake, and Shrader Lake is right by the Tolley Gap Trail. High temperatures at Shrader Lake through the long summer days are in the 80's while night lows are ordinarily in the 60's.
