Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 60's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 30's; after the sun is down all through the wintertime temperatures at Sawyer Pond plunge into the 10's. Places like The Cove are splendid to explore, and if you don't mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Rappahannock River.       And if you're still looking for more outdoors cool stuff just keep reading. There is a nice hiking trail near Sawyer Pond called the The Peak Trail, and you get a perfect sight of Oventop from here. This lake is so wonderful. The amount of precipitation that falls at Sawyer Pond is close to the national average; the month with most of the rain is July while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Rush River has a brilliant whitewater                  paddling spot close by, and Sky Meadows State Park is a great campground nearby. The Belle Meade Linden Trail is a delightful hiking trail near Sawyer Pond, and after a long day outdoors Scottish Inns Front Royal is a magnificent site to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. If the weather is wonderful here at Sawyer Pond, you can go for a hike along the Rattlesnake Trail, and SUPER 8 MOTEL - FRONT ROYAL is a brilliant place to get some rest.
