Saunders Pond is a nice lake to visit. Going for a hike on the Mills Creek Trail is always a fine adventure, and if you get bored of Saunders Pond you could also stop at close by Jones Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Lake Nelson Campground, and float down the rapids of Tye River in a kayak. Yeah, come here to Saunders Pond for a glorious time. Hubbard Hill is pretty and can be observed from Saunders Pond, and Wintergreen has great slopes and

| | a friendly staff. Go for a hike on the Tolley Gap Trail, and dry warm beds await you at Wintergreen Resort. This lake is so wonderful. If you come at the right time of year, Buffalo River offers some good whitewater, and hey, Allen Creek is a good local stream.  | 11 miles away Well me and my family have been going to Sharando Lake ever since I was born and we havn't gone anywhere else I love sherando and I can't wait to go back for another memorable camping weekend!...As close to perfect a camping experience as you can get: 1) Private, secluded, spacious campsites 2)access to flush toilets and showers, 3) a breathtakingly beautiful lake/swim area 4)hiking trails. WORD OF CAUTION: in-season, all sites are snapped up by Thurday noon for the weekend. Come on Sunday for best selection or before Thursday if you want a shot at a campsite. They don't take reservations (as of 8/2006) Wish they would so everyone could have a shot at a weekend camping trip there, not just the locals who can zip in and set a few camping chairs on the sites on Thursday to claim it for the weekend. ... |
