There are splendid spots to discover along the Spec Mines Trail, and a pretty lake like Rainbow Forest Lake is a glorious site to explore. Do take a look at Beaverdam Reservoir close to Salt Pond, it's a delightful lake, and you'll probably meet some folks from Roanoke here. Now, you may think that's plenty but there's even more entertaining stuff to do here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Since       you're here at Salt Pond why not explore Curry Gap. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Salt Pond has to offer, you can camp at Camp Virginia Jaycee. Throughout the warm months at Salt Pond temperatures are mostly in the 80's, and all through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 40's, and nighttime lows at Salt Pond through the wintertime commonly sink into the 20's. What a site this is for outdoors                  people. You can distinguish Flattop from Salt Pond, and don't leave Salt Pond without first going for a hike along the Hammond Hollow Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Holiday Inn Express TROUTVILLE - ROANOKE NORTH is a tremendous spot to get some rest, and you can run the rapids of James River. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Curry Creek Trail is always a pleasant adventure, and after a long day outdoors Quality Inn Troutville is a glorious place to spend a night or two. The annual precipitation here at Salt Pond is about average; during July this area sees the most rain; February is when it's the driest. Whohoo, so much enjoyable stuff in one place! The Blue Ridge Mountains is peerless! Get your heart beating on the nice whitewater of Catawba Creek; if you have time to spare, Booker T Washington National Monument is a national park worth a visit.
