Get yourself into a kayak and hit Harris Creek, and Wingate by Wyndham - Lynchburg is a brilliant place to get some rest. All the water falling down from the sky makes Rockdale Lake a wet place; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain, and the driest of the months is January. If you come at the right time of year, James River offers some magnificent whitewater, and there       are plenty of people from Lynchburg here at Rockdale Lake. While you're here at Rockdale Lake you can play some golf at Cedar Hills Golf Course, and you can stay the night at Wildwood Campground.
