So many exciting things to do here at Rainey Pond, too glorious to be true. The Summit Loop Trail offers hiking at its best. There's so much to do here at Rainey Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Cattail Creek Campground is a good place for that. Rainey       Pond gets a great deal of water; August is when you get the most rain here; the driest month of the year is April. This lake is so wonderful. Here at Rainey Pond there are plenty of folks from Roanoke Rapids. Beddingfield Creek is a splendid local stream, and Rainey Pond is right by the Discovery Loop Trail. Rainey Pond is tremendous enough to spend more than a day at, Outdoor World Corp is a tremendous local campground, and if you don’t have a problem getting                  drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Roanoke River. High temperatures at Rainey Pond through the summertime months are in the 80's. Summer night lows dip down to the 60's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 40's, and nighttime lows in the 20's for Rainey Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Very wonderful water scenery is available at Rainey Dam next to Rainey Pond; if you need a place to stay Jameson Inn Roanoke Rapids is a great choice.
