Rainbow Lake gets a normal amount of rain; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Stay the night at Cove Campgrounds, and since you're here, you could also visit stunning Emerald Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Not far from Rainbow Lake you obtain some nice water scenery at Crystal Dam, and close by you hit upon       the Signal Knob Trail which is a perfect hiking trail. Dry warm beds await you at Courtyard by Marriott Winchester, and the Old Romney Grade is a great hiking trail close by. If you need a place to stay Super 8 Motel - Middletown is a brilliant choice, and since you're here why not have a look at Clowser Gap. Cherokee Lake is a nearby lake that you could stop by, and do stop at Keckley Run since you're here at Rainbow Lake. This lake is so wonderful. You'll                  meet a lot of people from Winchester here, and in case you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Back Creek - Potomac Tributary. That right there is heaps already, but it keeps on going; Rainbow Lake has it all. There's so much to do here at Rainbow Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Candy Hill Campground is a tremendous place for that; Cedar Creek has a fine whitewater paddling spot nearby. Throughout the warm days of summer at Rainbow Lake temperatures are regularly in the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 40's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Rainbow Lake plunge into the 10's.
