If you like lakes and you're in this part of Virginia you can check out Lake Quarles. If you need a place to stay Microtel Inn Staunton is a good choice; close by you come across the Cold Spring Bald Mountain Trail which is a tremendous hiking trail. This lake is so wonderful. Lake Wilda is a splendid lake right next door to Lake Quarles; soar down the rapids of Tye River - North Fork in a kayak. The skiing at Wintergreen is great. This lake is so wonderful.

Quarles is Russell Rock. If you have a thing about the outdoors you'll have a thing about it here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. There is a great hiking trail close to Lake Quarles called the Stony Run Trail; Walnut Hills Campground
is a magnificent local campground. The yearly precipitation here at Lake Quarles is about average; through August this area sees the most rain; February on the other hand is the driest. During the warmest time of the year highs
here at Lake Quarles get into the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 60's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's, and nighttime lows at Lake Quarles through the winter typically dip into the 10's.
