You could also have a look at Leesville Lake while you're here at Preston Millpond; it's nearby. All the water falling down from the sky makes Preston Millpond a wet spot; through the month of May you get the most rain around here; January is the month with the least moisture. Here at Preston Millpond there are plenty of folks from Lynchburg, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Preston Millpond; Flat Top Mountain Trail is a good local                  trail. For the duration of the warm months highs here at Preston Millpond get into the 80's, and the overnight is rather colder of course, frequently in the 60's.
