A gorgeous lake like Chandlers Millpond right next door to Porridge Pot is a great site to check out, and you can go for a hike on the Big Meadow Trail. A lot of rain falls at Porridge Pot; August is when you get the most rain here while February is ordinarily the driest month. This lake is so wonderful.       After a long day outdoors Days Inn Tappahannock is a perfect spot to spend a night or two, and Heritage Park Resort is a delightful local campground. At Porridge Pot during the warmest time of the year highs are in the 80's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's while Porridge Pot night low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 20's. There's just no way someone can get                  bored here at Porridge Pot. Westmoreland State Park is a brilliant campground nearby.
