Not far from Pickett Lake you obtain some perfect water scenery at Pickett Dam, and if you're here, you could also take a look at beautiful Apple Mountain Upper Lake. This lake is so wonderful. There is a wonderful hiking trail close to Pickett Lake called the Belle Meade Linden Trail, and there's whitewater on Happy Creek for all you adrenaline junkies. Be careful coming to the       Blue Ridge Mountains, you might not ever wanna go home again. Shenandoah River State Park is a nice local campground, and SUPER 8 MOTEL - FRONT ROYAL is a perfect place to get some rest. The Rattlesnake Trail is a nice hiking trail right next door to Pickett Lake, and Front Royal Koa Kampground is a fine campground nearby. That right there is heaps of entertaining things already but it goes on, the Blue Ridge Mountains has it all. Do stop by Digulin Pond                  right next door to Pickett Lake, it's a beautiful lake, and you can run the rapids of Rappahannock River. All through the warmest time of the year here at Pickett Lake, high temperatures frequently get into the 80's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 60's. During the winter highs are typically in the 30's while Pickett Lake nighttime low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 10's. And if that's not sufficient, there's plenty more to do right next door to Pickett Lake. Going for a hike on the Dickey Hill Trail is always a magnificent adventure, and if you need a place to stay Quality Inn Skyline Drive is a good choice.
